Dr. Konstadinos Plestis, System Chief, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Lankenau Heart Institute, part of Main Line Health, will deliver the keynote address at the annual Hermes Expo Award Dinner.  Dr. Plestis joined Main Line Health in May 2015 to enhance the capabilities of the Lankenau Heart Institute cardiac surgery program and to reinforce its position as a destination for superior heart care.

He will provide a unique perspective to the overall trends and changes in healthcare and the expansion of Main Line Health’s cardiovascular with Expo attendees.

The 2015 Hermes Expo will take place on March 31 at the Best Western Hotel in Concordville, PA.  In its 24th year, the Hermes Expo continues to combine executive and exclusive level networking opportunities, professional development seminars, educational panels and a trade show exhibition platform for businesses seeking to grow and expand.  These events attract business leaders from diverse industries and professional services and feature platforms for companies to showcase their products and services in front of potential customers from the United States and Europe.

During his tenure with Lenox Hill Hospital, Dr. Plestis led a service that offered integrated care of aortic disease, available only at a few hospitals in the nation, involving collaboration among cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, structural cardiologists and internal medicine physicians. Prior to joining Lenox Hill, Dr. Plestis served as Associate Director of Aortic Surgery and Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Plestis earned his medical degree from Aristotelian University Medical School in Thessaloniki, Greece. He completed a General Surgery residency at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York, a Vascular Surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York.

Dr. Plestis is board certified in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Thoracic Surgery and has been honored with top doctor status from Castle Connolly, Best Doctors® in America, New York Super Doctors, U.S. News & World Report and the Consumers Research Council of America. His memberships include the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The Society of Vascular Surgery, The Michael DeBakey International Surgical Society and the Society of Heart Valve Disease and International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS).

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International Academy of Clinical and Applied Thrombosis/ Hemostasis. Dr. Plestis has made numerous contributions to peer-reviewed journals, has participated in many clinical trials and is a frequent presenter on aortic surgery at national and international conferences.
