The Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation’s inaugural gala, “The Wings to Cure,” will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Hilton Chicago. The black-tie event will raise vital funds to accelerate high-impact translational research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.

Established in November 2015, the mission of the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation (HCRF) is to discover, develop and implement effective new treatments for patients with cancer by supporting groundbreaking research. “Our goal – to eliminate cancer and save lives – is ambitious but achievable,” said Eleni Bousis, Chair of HCRF’s Founding Board.

Susanna Homan, Anna Davlantes and Lou Canellis will serve as emcees for “The Wings to Cure.” Homan is the editor-in-chief and publisher of Chicago magazine, as well as editor-in-chief and publisher of the style magazine, Splash. Davlantes is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and co-host of WGN radio’s Roe Conn Show with Anna Davlantes on weekday afternoons. Canellis shares his enthusiasm about sports on Fox 32 News at Nine, and is living the dream with the Chicago Bears as anchor of Bears Game Day and Game Night Live on Fox, as well as Bears Recap and Bears Blitz on Comcast Sportsnet.

“HCRF’s vision, drive and determination to support cancer research will create important opportunities to translate scientific discoveries into leading-edge treatments for our patients,” said Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, Director of the Lurie Cancer Center and Director of HCRF’s Scientific Advisory Board. “Cancer can be defeated if physicians, researchers and philanthropists work as a team.”

The gala will feature an elegant cocktail reception, dinner, and special celebrity appearances as guests dance the night away to the Dan Hayes Orchestra.
