The popular local and network personality has hinged his success on two themes – values and happiness! They have paid off. During the honorary ceremony at NYIT last Sunday, the legendary news anchor delivered a passionate message about values to the more than 3,000 graduates and guests. Quoting the Dalai Lama, Mr. Anastos said, “open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.”

The veteran news personality will address more than 1,400 graduates and guests following Marist College awards ceremony on May 25. In an excerpt from his speech, the seasoned news anchor outlines his top headlines for happiness.

“Make happiness your personal success story,” he writes. It’s an important goal that will set the tone for your life. “Happiness is not only important to our personal and social lives, it is important to our global community.”

Mr. Anastos has exemplified a longtime interest in young people. He has authored two books highlighting the lifestyles of youth in America. His book, Twixt: Teens Yesterday and Today, traces American teenagers’ influence on social and political attitudes. The highly noted news anchor says he enjoys inspiring young people through public speaking and frequently visits schools throughout the New York area. Just recently, Mr. Anastos gathered at Columbia University with 1,000 inner-city kids from middle schools in New York for a charity-sponsored event where he encouraged the children to think positive. The Fox 5 News Anchor also hosts the network’s special series, Positively Ernie, a show focused on highlighting the positive people and organizations throughout the Tri-State area.

Mr. Anastos says he will continue to work tirelessly to fulfill his mission to help America’s youth reach their true potential, and encourages them to uphold their values and seek happiness as they pursue success. “It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are,” the TV legend said. The future is bright for America’s youth, as it was and still is for one of New York’s TV legends. Stay tuned!
