On September 1, 2015 the Hellenic News of America in cooperation with the International business committee hosted a meet and greet event featuring Dr. Konstadinos Plestis, M.D., System Chief of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, and his elite team from the Lankenau Heart Institute, a Main Line Health facility. The event took place at Paxon Hollow Country Club in Marple, PA where members of the Philadelphia and Delaware County community were in attendance.

The pioneering surgical techniques and advanced health care service that Dr. Plestis provides an indelible contribution to the value of human life in our region.

Dr. Kostadinos Plestis, System Chief, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Lankenau Heart Institute, part of Main Line Health, Dr. Plestis joined Main Line Health in May 2015 to enhance the capabilities of the Lankenau Heart Institute cardiac surgery program and to reinforce its position as a destination for superior heart care.

Before coming to Main Line Health, Dr. Plestis Dr. Plestis led a service that offered integrated care of aortic disease at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. This department is available only at a few hospitals in the nation Prior to joining Lenox Hill, Dr. Plestis served as Associate Director of Aortic Surgery and Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Plestis earned his medical degree from Aristotelian University Medical School in Thessaloniki, Greece. He completed a General Surgery residency at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York, a Vascular Surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York.

Dr. Plestis is board certified in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Thoracic Surgery and has been honored with top doctor status from Castle Connolly, Best Doctors® in America, New York Super Doctors, U.S. News & World Report and the Consumers Research Council of America.

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International Academy of Clinical and Applied Thrombosis/ Hemostasis. Dr. Plestis has made numerous contributions to peer-reviewed journals, has participated in many clinical trials and is a frequent presenter on aortic surgery at national and international conferences.
