Chatham House is pleased to announce the establishment of a permanently endowed Fellowship in its Academy for Leadership in International Affairs, named in recognition of a grant of €1m from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (www.SNF.org).

The Academy Fellowship, which will commence in February 2015, will initially be directed at Greek citizens and Greek diaspora based around the world, with the option to offer the Fellowship more widely to citizens of the European Union in some years.

In its first year, applicants are invited to explore either the potential for Political and Economic Divergence in the European Union (hosted by the Chatham House Europe Programme) or The Impact of the Financial Crisis on the Greek Healthcare System (hosted by the Chatham House Centre on Global Health Security).

Robin Niblett, Director of Chatham House said, “Stavros Niarchos understood the meaning of thinking and acting internationally long before the term globalization became so commonly used. This fellowship position compliments his vision for a more inter-connected world and I am very pleased that Chatham House is working with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation to provide this fellowship for our Academy.”

Andreas Dracopoulos, Co-President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s Board of Directors said, “Chatham House has a world-leading reputation for independent and rigorous analysis in international relations. I am confident that this initiative will have a lasting impact on world affairs and I am very pleased that the Stavros Niarchos Foundation is able to facilitate this position for a future leader from the Greek diaspora.”
