Huge smiles of satisfaction, sports experiences and exciting memories were the final result for the “AHEPA CUP 2024” Beach Volleyball tournament, which ended on Sunday 21 July in Nafpaktos: It was a “hot” three days of matches not only because of the prevailing heat but also because of the spectacular matches hosted on the sand.
History wrote another successful event for the local Nafpaktos chapter “AHEPA Lepanto 1571”- HJ18, which organized for the 11th year in a row the “AHEPA CUP” Beach Volleyball. The event was approved by the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, with co-organizers the Municipality of Nafpaktia, the Region of Western Greece and the sports club “Omonoia Nafpaktou”.
A total of 21 teams participated and the international character of the event was confirmed by the participation of athletes from abroad (Austria, Norway and France). On Friday, July 19, the qualifying matches took place, from which the final draw of the 16 best teams of the weekend emerged. After two days of ambivalent and spectacular matches, the couple Nefeli Molyviati-Nikos Dontis emerged as champions, who prevailed with a 2-0 set of Ioanna Gogousou-Emrach Surtse from Austria, while the bronze medal was won by Katerina Gogousou-Konstantinos Vasilakos without match, due to a medical obstacle between Daria Skidanenko and Thomas Papadimitriou. .
The AHEPA Hellas sports director Mr. Angelos Stavropoulos attended the awards as a representative of the governor, accompanied by the AHEPA Hellas VP of social responsibility Mr. Adam Vlachogiannis. The Region of Western Greece was represented by the rural deputy governor of Athens, Mr. Thanasis Mavromatis, and the deputy governor of sports and vice-president of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation (EOPE), Mr. Panagiotis Antonopoulos.
Congratulations deserve to be given to all the participating athletes for their effort and their adamantine behavior throughout the tournament.
The appointment has already been renewed for next summer and the “AHEPA CUP 2025” Beach volleyball tournament.
