The number of ships departing from the ports of Attica for island destinations, mainly the Cyclades, has increased since Wednesday morning due to the August 15 holiday.
The Coast Guard has taken all necessary measures to facilitate passengers and vehicles, while it is advisable for those intending to travel to arrive at the ship’s departure dock earlier than usual, due to the high volume of traffic.
A total of 25 ferries are due to depart from Piraeus while, according to the early figures on passenger traffic, a total of 21,834 passengers are expected to leave for the Aegean islands. For the islands of Saronic Gulf, 42 ferry journeys are scheduled on Wednesday, 27 by high-speed vessels and 15 by conventional ferries.
Seven ferries will depart from the port of Rafina for the islands of Cyclades and three ferries will go to Marmari, with 5,070 passengers on board.
Nine ferries with 2,599 passengers will depart from the port of Lavrio for the islands.
. According to the ferry companies, ferry fares on conventional ships remained at the same levels as 2023.
Specifically, a total of 3.9 million passengers and 534,611 vehicles travelled in July 2024, compared to 4.3 million passengers and 922,000 vehicles in July 2023, a 10 percent drop in passengers.
