Panagiotis (Pete Sassos) of Poughkeepsie New York passed away at 63 years old on Tuesday, October 28th. He was an immigrant from Nea Iraklitsa, Kavala, Greece. He is survived by his wife, Nicoleta (Nicole) Sassos, children Alexandra and Michael Doxey, Connie and Daffy Isaakidis, Demetrios Sassos and fiancée Barbara Savva, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Sassos was born on September 16th, 1951 to Dimitrios and Alexandra Sassos. He completed his education in Greece, graduating from the Pythagoras Technical School. He immigrated to the United States in 1969, settling in the Poughkeepsie area.He married Nicole Siolas on August 20, 1972, raising three children.
“We all support Hermes Expo,” he explained in a prior interview. As Chairman of Pan Gregorian Enterprises (PGE), Pete Sassos accomplished a unique effort in bringing all restaurateurs and PGE of America together for the Hermes International Expo events. He used Hermes International Expo 6to bring together members of PGE to discuss ways to make it profitable for restaurants. His outreach efforts at Hermes Expo, aided members in growing their profits. He was honored on April 24th, 2010 by Hermes International Expo at their gala n Atlantic City.
Recently, Mr. Sassos worked with the Dining Alliance through Atlas Purchasing.
Providing profitable solutions for independent restaurants was his purpose,. He obtained national rebates, purchasing incentives and ancillary (additional) Service Providers for members. A membership in the Atlas Purchasing Group aided members in lowering food costs and increase profits. He enlarged Atlas Purchasing to include fifteen thousand owners all over the country. Mr. Pete Sassos left behind a legacy of business achievement and strong support for Hermes International Expo.
