WASHINGTON, DC – The Daughters of Penelope (DOP), a leading international service organization comprised of women of Hellenic heritage and Philhellenes, launched Webinar 5 of the National Webinar Series on December 3.
Members from around the world including the National Daughters of Penelope Grand Lodge and National Maids of Athena Grand Lodge joined via Zoom with Daughters of Penelope Grand President Celia Kachmarski to discuss ways to recruit and engage new members during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Grand President Kachmarski spoke about the story and major accomplishments of the DOP, its mission, what the DOP do, and how she became a member of the DOP. After the presentation participants shared how they became a member as well and how much it has meant to them.
“My motto this year has been together we are stronger, together we thrive, and it has been felt across the globe this year through the amazing work and dedication of our chapters during this COVID era. Our membership, commitment, and philotimo are our organization’s greatest strengths,” said Grand President Kachmarski. The Daughters of Penelope announced they will launch a new series of webinars about their national projects shortly after the New Year.
Founded in San Francisco in 1929, the Daughters of Penelope is the first women’s organization of its kind established in the United States. It is an affiliate organization of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA).
The mission of the DOP is to promote the ancient Greek ideals of Hellenism, Education, Philanthropy, Civic Responsibility, and Family and Individual Excellence.
