The director of the New Library of Alexandria Dr. Mostafa el Feki, in a meeting with the Greek Ambassador to Egypt, Nikos Garilidis, stressed the huge common history that Greece and Egypt have shared.
And “the best proof of this common historical course of the two countries is the Alexandria Library,” the head of the library said.
Dr. El Feki also referred to the long-standing relations between the two countries, which have always been good, referring in particular to the historic visit to Athens of the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
On his part, Garilidis expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with the Library of Alexandria.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. El Feki offered a rare edition entitled “Precious Manuscripts”, edited by the services of the Library of Alexandria, as a memento of their meeting.
