SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras issued a statement on the wiretapping case on Wednesday. “Today, after five days, I was informed from the parliament’s president that the majority of the government rejects my request for an extraordinary convening of the [parliament’s] Transparency & Institutions Committee in order to be informed by the National Intelligence Service (EYP) if they were also monitoring [SYRIZA MP] Christos Spirtzis,” Tsipras noted.
Continuing, the main opposition party leader said that “Mr. Mitsotakis now refuses even the most self-evident parliamentary institutional procedure. Anything that refers to institutions and transparency causes him allergy and fear. He is afraid of the truth. He is afraid of the parliamentary process.”
