Greek Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis met with Italian Minister for Innovation & Digital Transition Vittorio Colao and also with Italian Minister of Public Administration Renato Boruneta in Rome on Thursday.

In a statement to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), Pierrakakis noted that beyond the exchange of technical know-how and good practices, the two ministers also discussed both countries’ policy on microsatellites technology. He added that Greece and Italy will colaborate with the European Space Agency (ESA) to set up their own microsatellites programs. These will later merge with broader European initiatives, he revealed.

Pierrakakis said that he and Colao will participate in the same panel at the forum “Verso Sud (Looking Southward): European strategy for a new geopolitical, economic and socio-cultural season in the Mediterranean” on Friday and Saturday in Sorrento. This is organized by Minister for Southern Italy & Territorial Cohesion Mara Carfagna, and attended by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Mario Draghi, among many others. At the panel, both ministers will have the opportunity to demonstrate the closeness of the two countries in these policies.

Electronic public services and online platforms was another key area on which Pierrakkakis exchanged ideas and opinions with the Italian ministers. The Greek e-Governance minister noted that “digital transition policy, is in practice a policy that concerns everyday life, a policy of serving the citizen, it is a social policy.”
