Exports of Greek alcoholic beverages (within the EU 27 & to third countries) increased both in value and quantity in the first half of 2021, compared to the corresponding half of 2020 and 2019, according to Eurostat data (August 2021) elaborated by the Association of Greek Producers of Alcoholic Beverages.

In particular, in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, there is an increase in value of + 31% (+ 10.7 million euros) and in a quantity of 9.13% (+1.5 million kg). Europe continues to hold the largest share of exports, in quantity & value at a rate of 75% while Germany is the destination country with the largest share of exports.

Ouzo continues to maintain the first place in the exports of Greek alcoholic beverages. The first half of 2021 shows an increase in value (+5.1 million euros) and in quantity (+0.7 million kg) both inside and outside the EU compared to the corresponding half of 2020.

According to the Association, the Greek distillery industry is one of the most extroverted industries, promoting the Greek tradition throughout the world. The quality of Greek drinks is recognized internationally and is increasingly preferred worldwide.
