Greek Independence Day celebrations continue to be held by communities throughout the United States.

In Silicon Valley, a flag-raising ceremony was held at San Jose City Hall, sponsored by AHEPA Chapter 251, Daughters of Penelope Daphne Chapter 29, and hosted by Councilwoman Pam Foley, who presented a proclamation from the San Jose City Council. Students of the Greek school at Saint Nicholas Church danced at the ceremony. The iconic City Hall Rotunda will be illuminated with blue lights for seven nights.

On the East Coast, Mayor Michael Purzycki proclaimed March 25 Greek Independence Day at a flag-raising celebration at Freedom Square at the Government Complex in Wilmington, Del. The chorus of the Odyssey Charter School performed the American and Greek National Anthems as well as a selection of patriotic songs.

Palmetto Chapter 284 and DOP Chapter 302 of Columbia, S.C., collaborated to host Greek Independence luncheon for the community at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, March 27.
