There is no question of measures, but there is a question of a preventive visit to prevent all the data, said the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, after a meeting at the EKAB facilities in Thessaloniki.
“We want to draw attention now that it is too early because our goal is to comply with the measures, to expand vaccinations and to really manage the pandemic in the best possible way. “There is no question of measures, because many say so, there is a question of a precautionary visit to prevent all the data”, noted Mr. Plevris.
Referring to the meeting he had with health representatives who oppose the measure of obligation, he noted: “The state has clearly said that the obligation will not be extended. But for health professionals and those with vulnerable groups to care for, the obligation has to do with the fact that public health prevails between individual choice and public health. Just as a doctor has the right not to be vaccinated, so a patient has the right of the doctor treating him to be vaccinated. We gave them the opportunity, we respect them and we invite them to take the opportunity to be vaccinated with the first dose and to return. “There is going to be no other change in government policy on this issue.”
Deputy Health Minister Mina Gaga noted that every day they enter the intensive care units and end up mostly unvaccinated patients and gave the message that the vaccine is safe and important for the safety of all.
It should be noted that in the meeting held at EKAB, in addition to Mr. Plevris and Ms. Gaga, participated the General Secretary of Health Services Ioannis Kotsiopoulos, the president of KEPY EKAB Nikos Papavestathiou, the governors of the 3rd and 4th RAE as well as governors .
During the meeting, health workers who oppose the mandatory vaccination and some from the anti-vaccination area staged a protest in the presence of police forces.
