NEWARK, N.J. – September 22, 2015 – The Hellenic Dancers of NJ, Inc. (HDNJ) and the NJ Devils have announced its collaboration in the first-ever Greek Heritage Day at the NJ Devils arena.  This event will take place at the NJ Devils vs. NY Islanders game on Saturday, October 31st at 1pm (Prudential Center, Newark, NJ).

HDNJ has secured a 250-seat Greek section with group pricing, in which each ticketholder receives a commemorative t-shirt and NJ Devils hat.  In addition, attendees will experience live performances from HDNJ, as well as various Greek musicians, right on the concourse.  To purchase tickets in the Greek section, the NJ Devils offer a dedicated page at www.NewJerseyDevils.com/Greek with the promo code GREEK.  Tickets are on sale now through Friday, October 30th.

Soteria Kostas and Spiro Petroutsos, HDNJ’s Co-Artistic Directors, state, “We are thrilled to take part in such an amazing experience, and look forward to perpetuating our beautiful Greek heritage at the Prudential Center.  We are truly honored, and promise to award attendees with a cultural journey through Greek music and dance that will exceed all expectations on this first-ever Greek Heritage Day at the NJ Devils.”

With an arena holding up to 18,000 spectators, HDNJ will have the opportunity to present their 40+ year repertoire of Greek dance and traditions to an expansive audience.

The Hellenic Dancers of NJ was founded in 1972 by the late Very Reverend Father Jim and Presvytera Eleni Chakalos at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Asbury Park, NJ.  What began as a small group of students learning the basic dances of Greece, grew into an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has preserved over 300 Greek folk dance traditions and has toured the United States.  The mission of HDNJ is to research, preserve, and perform the regional folk dances of Greece within the Greek community, and to share these rich, cultural traditions with the American public.  Throughout its 43-year history, the troupe is nationally recognized with performances including the Inaugural Festivities for former President Ronald Reagan, 20/20 ABC Television Program, Closing Ceremonies 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, as well as many other Greek and culturally diverse festivals and special programs.  For more information, please visit www.HellenicDancersofNJ.org.
