The Hellenic Relief Foundation continues the undertaking it began in February-2012, appropriating monetary donations from the United States for food and basic need items for distribution to the underprivileged in Greece.
Distribution during summer and fall months were as follows:
-620 packages on June 24th
-600 packages on June 14th
-670 packages on August 18th
-300 children received School supplies on September 10th
-600 parcels were handed out from the foundation’s new distribution center from September 17th to the 20th
-45 plates of warm food were given to the homeless and to families that do not have electricity on October 17th,
-439 packages on October 19th
Parcels were given to beneficiaries in: Athens, Pireaeus, Nikaia, the Municipality of Kalyvia Thoricou (for the needs of the public grocery) Spetses, Gytheio, Thessaloniki, Chania, Patra, Tavros, Souli, and Konitsa.
September 17th marked the first distribution at our newly rented and refurbished distribution center that became a reality due to the generous grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The new center offers areas for distribution, and storage of all goods; but also an area that can be utilized for support on matters of physical and mental health in co-operation with other organizations.

All the activities in Greece are carried out by the members, employees, and volunteers of “Hellenic Voluntary Support” under the direction of Maria Siourdi.
Members of the Board of Directors, and representatives of the foundation were present at the distributions.
Queens College of New York professor Nicholas Alexiou was present at August distribution and he stated that he is impressed with the magnificent service the organization provides to the less privileged people of Greece.
The materials distributed are purchased with funds collected from individual donors as well as various organizations and societies.
In October 2015 The Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce donated part of the annual dinner gala proceeds for the mission HRF.
If February 2016 the Archangel Michael of Port Washington New York community organized a dinner gala and benefit auction in order to support the activities of the foundation.
Since the beginning of our relief activities the following companies have donated food and clothing items valued to about 150 euros.

A big portion of the distribution expenses in Greece are being covered through a grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Fixed expenses in New York are covered by sources connected with the Board of Directors so that 100 percent of donations are turned into food and other items for ones in need.
Our Christmas main distribution will take place on December 21st 2014 from our central outlet in Athens and many other areas throughout Greece.

The Hellenic Relief Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt (501C3) organization. It was founded in January,
2012 with the goal of raising funds in the United States to be used towards the purchase of food items, and basic necessities for the underprivileged in Greece. To date approximately $403,000 has been remitted for purchase of food in Greece. Additionally local companies in Greece have donated items valued to about 150,000 euros. Καλοκαίρι, διακοπές. ‘Ομως η ανάγκη η στέρηση δεν πηγαίνουν διακοπές. Το Ίδρυμα Ελληνικής Συμπαράστασης Hellenic Relief Foundation συνεχίζει το έργο που ξεκίνησε τον Φεβρουάριο του 2012, μεταφέροντας χρηματικές δωρεές από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες στην Ελλάδα όπου αγοράζονται τρόφιμα και είδη πρώτης ανάγκης και διανέμονται σε αναξιοπαθούντες.
Κατά τους θερινούς και φθινοπωρινούς μήνες έγιναν οι ακόλουθες διανομές.
– Στις 24 Ιουνίου 620 δέματα
– Στις 14 Ιουλίου 600 δέματα
– Στις 18 Αυγούστου 670 δέματα
– Στις 10 Σεπτεμβρίου διανομή σχολικών ειδών σε 300 παιδιά
– Στις 17-20 Σεπτεμβρίου 600 δέματα από το νέο πρατήριο του οργανισμού
– Στις 17 Οκτωβρίου ζεστό φαγητό σε 45 οικογένειάς και άτομα αστέγων, οικογενειών που
δεν έχουν ρεύμα.
– Στις 19 Οκτωβρίου 439 δέματα
Τα δέματα παραδόθηκαν σε δικαιούχους στις ακόλουθες περιοχές:
Αθήνα, Πειραιά, Νίκαια, Δήμο Καλυβίων-Θορικού (για τις ανάγκες του Κοινωνικού Παντοπωλείου), Σπέτσες, Γύθειο, Θεσσαλονίκη , Χανιά, Πάτρα, Ταύρο, Σούλι και Κόνιτσα.
Στις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου έγινε η πρώτη διανομή από τα το νέο πρατήριο που ενοικιάστηκε και διαμορφώθηκε χάρη σε χορηγία του ιδρύματος Σταύρο Νιάρχος. Το νέο πρατήριο διαθέτει χώρους διανομής, αποθήκευσης αλλά και χώρους όπου σε συνεργασία με κατάλληλους φορείς θα παρέχεται και υποστήριξη σε θέματα υγείας. Φωτογραφίες απο το νέο πρατήριο.
Όλες οι δραστηριότητες στην Ελλάδα διεκπεραιώνονται από μέλη, υπαλλήλους και εθελοντές της ΑΜΚΕ Ελληνική Εθελοντική Συμπαράσταση υπό την διεύθυνση της Μαρίας Σιούρδη.
Στις διανομές παρευρέθηκαν μέλη του διοικητικού συμβουλίου καθώς και άλλοι εκπρόσωποι του Hellenic Relief Foundation.
Ο καθηγητής του Queens College της Νέας Υόρκης Νικος Αλεξίου παραβρέθηκε στην διανομή του Αυγούστου και δήλωσε ότι εντυπωσιάστηκε με το έργο που γίνεται για την ενίσχυση των αδυνάτων της Ελληνικής κοινωνίας.
Τα υλικά που διανέμονται αγοράζονται με χρήματα που προέρχονται κυρίως από μεμονωμένους δωρητές αλλά και από οργανώσεις και συλλόγους.
Τον Οκτώβριο του 2015 το Ελληνοαμερικανικό Εμπορικό Επιμελητήριο διέθεσε μέρος των εσόδων από το ετήσιο δείπνο του για τους σκοπούς του HRF.
Τον Φεβρουάριο του 2016 η κοινότητα του Αρχαγγέλλου Μιχαήλ στο Port Washington Νέας Υόρκης διοργάνωσε δείπνο και ευεργετική δημοπρασία για ενίσχυση των σκοπών του οργανισμού.
Απο την αρχή της δραστηριότητας του HRF oι ακόλουθες εταιρείες έχουν δωρήσει τρόφιμα ρουχισμό και υποδήματα αξίας περίπου 150,000 ευρώ.

Eνα μεγάλο μέρος των εξόδων διανομής στην Αθήνα καλύπτονται μέσω χορηγίας του ιδρύματος Στάυρος Νιάρχος, ενώ τα έξοδα στη Νέα Υόρκη καλύπτονται απο πηγές του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου με αποτέλεσμα το 100 % των δωρεών να μετατρέπονται σε τρόφιμα και είδη πρώτης ανάγκης.
Η χριστουγεννιάτικη μας διανομή θα γίνει στις 21 Δεκεμβρίου απο το κεντρικό μας πρατήριο στην Αθήνα και απο άλλα μέρη στην Ελλάδα.
