LOMBARD, IL, April 22, 2021 – Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago announced today that Holy Trinity will move its liturgical services, ministries, and programs to the former St. Maria Goretti Church located at 10050 Ivanhoe Ave., Schiller Park, Illinois, 60176. Holy Trinity’s administrative offices will remain at 2644 E. Dempster Ave in Park Ridge at this time. Services at the new location will begin on Palm Sunday.

“We are acutely aware of the special timing of this announcement. We give thanks to God that the Holy Trinity community will be able to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ at its new location. We also give thanks that the faithful of Holy Trinity will enjoy comfort and certainty over the next year as we complete the final steps in our journey for a permanent spiritual home,” said James G. Lakerdas, Parish Council President.

Through the parish council’s vote, and with the consensus of parishioners, Holy Trinity will operate at the Schiller Park space for one year. During that time, Holy Trinity will evaluate options to secure a permanent spiritual home at another location, or acquire its current space outright.

The lease agreement was entered into by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Holy Trinity and the Metropolis of Chicago are deeply grateful to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago for the generous leasing terms offered.

“This day would not have been possible without the deep and abiding faith of the parish council, the stewards, and sister parishes of Holy Trinity. The considerable hard work and commitment, especially during a public health crisis, is an example of grace in action to everyone in the Holy Metropolis,” said His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael.
