The number of visitors to museums in Greece increased 11.2 percent in June 2024, relative to the same month in 2023, while free admission visitors dropped by 6.5 percent and receipts increased 20.6 percent, according to the Independent Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) report issued on Thursday.
As regards archaeological sites, in June 2024 compared with the corresponding month of 2023, there was a decrease of 8.5% in the number of visitors, of 8.2% in the number of free admission visitors and a decrease of 6.8% in receipts.
During the six-month period from January to June 2024, the number of museum visitors increased 17.5 percent, a 3.6 percent increase in the number of free admission visitors and 24.1 percent increase in receipts compared with the first half of 2023. For archaeological sites, the number of visitors increased 10.5 percent in the first half of 2024, free admission visitors increased by 12.9 percent and receipts increased by 9.5 percent increase compared with the corresponding period of 2023.
