Interview with Lisa Matassa: Long Island country music singer
By: Markos Papadatos
Long Island-based country singer Lisa Matassa sat down and chatted in-person with Greek-American journalist Markos Papadatos about her critically-acclaimed new EP “Somebody’s Baby” and its title cut single.
“The EP is doing great and I am happy about that. You want to make sure that there is a connection with your audience and that your listener is connecting with your music. You want people to like you and you want to love what you do,” she said. “What you see is what you get with me. I am so appreciative of the fans and the support that I have been getting from them. It’s amazing how loyal the country fans are and I want my fans to know that I am always accessible to them so I always stay in touch with them via my Facebook and Twitter pages.”
Most recently, Lisa Matassa’s “Somebody’s Baby” entered the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. “I am so excited to break the Top 40. It has been a dream of mine. As a musician my whole life, you dream about certain things. This is just incredible and it gives me chills,” she exclaimed.
Matassa has well over 198,000 fans on Facebook, as well as over 510,000 followers on Twitter. “It’s exciting to be the first artist in Long Island to be in the forefront of country music. I am really happy to be a part of all that,” she said graciously. “It just shows how big and influential country music is. It’s about real life.”
Last month, Matassa noted that she was a part of her second Country Radio Seminar (CRS) experience and she was privileged to perform on the Hallmark Channel’s “Marie” show, which is presented by Marie Osmond. “Growing up, I wanted to be like Marie. We had a great talk and she asked me to perform two songs, which was really great. It was exciting since Marie is so cool,” Matassa acknowledged.
Regarding her plans for the future, Matassa revealed, “I will be going to the ACMs next week in Las Vegas and I am one of the first independent recording artists to be invited to do the Dial Global Radio Remote, which is huge. I was there last year standing next to Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift and they were both so sweet. It was incredible.”
