A 6.1 pct of the country’s population faced a moderate or serious lack of food in 2020, down from 8.0 pct in 2019, while 1.6 pct faced a serious lack of food (1.5 pct in 2019), Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.
More specifically, 13.2 pct of the population was concerned that it would not have enough food to cover its needs, 12.8 pct could not affod to have healthy and nutritious food, 14.1 pct ate only certain food items, 6.2 pct skipped one meal, 6.6 pct ate less than it felt it needed, 2.7 pct was left without food, 3 pct was hungry but did not eat and 2.2 pct spent a whole day without food. Also, 96.9 pct of households reported sufficiency of food, 0.7 pct reported a low sufficiency of food and 2.4 pct a very low sufficiency of food.
