Greetings from beautiful Rhodes I am with students during winter intersession.
After an enriched experience with the study tour around Greece, Paideia group arrived in Rhodes yesterday for more classes.
Yesterday and today, after their visit to the City of Rhodes, the students visited the villages of Soroni, Fanes, Salakos, Embona, Siana, Apolakia and Maritsa.
Visiting Siana, the students took Agiasmo at the beautiful church of Agios Panteleimon, met the priest Father George at his local museum and visited retired Greek American, Mr. Stamatakis at his home.
In Apolakia, the students met with Paideia benefactor, Kostas Meleounis from Hartford, CT, at a local restaurant. At the insistence of Kostas, the students enjoyed a tasty makaronada with xerochimisi.
At Sotera Monastery in Maritsa, Mr. Lazaros Kasekas who is part of the PanRhodian Society of America “Apollon” Rodos Chapter president, warmly welcomed all US students.
For many years now, Paideia students have participated in the New Years eve celebrations at Maritsa.
Every year, at the Day of Epiphany, students visit Soroni, Fanes, Salakos, Paradeisi, Maritsa and other villages.

You see Paideia Greek American student, Athanasios Ververis, return the wooden cross from the water to the priest. Thanasis received from the priest His blessings and also a small golden cross.

Αγαπητοί φίλοι,
Μετά από την εκπαιδευτική εκδρομή σε ιστορικούς χώρους και μουσεία στην Αθήνα, Πελοπόνησο, Στερεά Ελλάδα, Θεσσαλία, Μακεδονία και Ήπειρο οι σπουδαστές της Παιδείας βρίσκονται τις τελευταίες δύο ημέρες στην Ρόδο για περισσότερα μαθήματα.
Τα χωριά Μαριτσά και Σάλακος κάθε έτος παρουσιάζουν εντυπωσιακές Φάτνες για τον εορτασμό Των Χριστουγέννων. Είναι κανονικά πανηγύρια του χειμώνα με φαγητά, γλυκίσματα και με άφθονο ζεστό τσάι που προσφέρεται δωρεά σε όλους. Το τσάι στην Σάλακο και η φιλοξενία στα Μαριτσά θα σας μείνουν για χρόνια στην μνήμη σας.
Σας επισυνάπτουμε φωτογραφίες από τον εορτασμό Των Φώτων στην Σορωνή. Τρεις σπουδαστές μας βλέπετε να μπαλινουν στην θάλασσα για να πιάσουν Τον Σταυρό.
Ο τυχερός της χρονιάς στην Σορωνή ήταν ο Ελληνοαμερικανός σπουδαστής μας Αθανάσιος Βερβέρης από Waterbury, CT και με καταγωγή από την Ερεσό, Ν. Λέσβου.
ΚΑΙ ΤΟΥ ΧΡΟΝΟΥ ΜΕ ΥΓΕΙΑ ΕΥΧΟΜΕΝΟΙ ΠΑΝ ΕΚ ΘΕΟΥ ΑΓΑΘΟΝ ΣΕ ΟΛΟ ΤΟΝ ΚΟΣΜΟ!
