The Costume Museum of the Lykeion ton Ellinidon (CMLE) is participating in this year’s celebration of European Heritage Days. On Sunday at 18:30, it will host an event titled “What the Costumes Tell Us About Their Journeys.”
The Lykeion ton Ellinidon will present the history and journey of five distinct garments, all linked by their connection to their predecessors.
This initiative stems from ongoing documentation work on traditional items at the museum, aiming to highlight how objects can appear in different social and historical contexts.
The CMLE is one of the most important depositories of regional costumes from the pre-industrial society of historic Greece, as well as clothing and accessories from the early urban societies of the 19th and 20th centuries. The primary aim of the CMLE is to promote knowledge around costuming and clothing and to contribute to their conservation, research, documentation and showcasing.
The event will feature storytelling by two narrators alongside an exhibition of costumes from the museum’s collection.
Admission is free. Location: 14 Demokritou str.Kolonaki – Athens.
