Cable Network Universo to Join Broadcast of “Hand in Hand: a Benefit for Hurricane Relief” for Harvey and Irma Victims Featuring J Balvin, Eva Longoria, Gerardo Ortiz and Sofia Vergara, Among Many Other Celebrities
MIAMI – September 12, 2017 – Telemundo Network announced it has joined forces with the Red Cross to help raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Irma in Florida. Complementing the continuous news coverage led by national Telemundo News anchor Jose Díaz-Balart and the local Houston, Miami and Puerto Rico station’s news reporting teams, the combined awareness and fundraising initiative will help collect funds for the victims of the devastating hurricanes, a large number of which are Hispanics, through www.elpoderenti.com/cr
“Thanks to the generosity of Telemundo, the Red Cross will be able to continue to provide our needed services to those impacted by Hurricane Irma,” said Anna Trefethen, Vice President Southeast and Caribbean, Red Cross. “Currently, Red Cross is focusing on providing safe shelter and feeding people. We will also be offering emotional support, health services, and distributing emergency relief supplies such as comfort kits and cleaning supplies. The benefit telethon will air live from Los Angeles, New York, San Antonio and Nashville and will be carried on multiple networks, including ABC, CBS, FOX, HBO, NBC and Bravo, and live-stream via Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, featuring more than 60 celebrity supporters.
