There will be no deadline extension to filing taxes for calendar 2021, Greek Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Tuesday, last day for doing so. In statements to Parapolitika radio station, Staikouras said there were already two extensions.
A technical issue that arose on Monday preventing businesses (legal entities) from filing taxes or filing corrected statements is being worked on by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), the minister added. In a separate statement, AADE and the ministry said on Tuesday that when the application is back in operation, businesses will be able to file and pay tax or of the first two instalments of tax owed without being fined for doing so beyond the deadline.
According to the latest AADE data published, a total of 6.3 million income tax statements have been filed. Prior to the technical issue on Monday, a total of 265,140 statements had been filed by businesses/legal entities through the application, nearly 3,000 over those filed for calendar year 2020.
