The Hermes Expo proudly announces that Fotis Farmakis, the accomplished Restaurateur and Co-Owner of Riverwinds Restaurant, will be honored at this year’s event. Fotis’s remarkable journey began 52 years ago when, as a 13-year-old boy, he left his village of Papadates, Greece, with nothing but a dream and unwavering determination. Starting as a dishwasher at Ponzio’s Diner in Camden, New Jersey, Fotis worked tirelessly, often seeking refuge in unfamiliar basements and garages to rest at night. Through over a decade of perseverance and holding various low-paying positions in the restaurant industry, Fotis gained invaluable insights into its inner workings, preparing him for the remarkable path that lay ahead.

At 25, Fotis married his wife Zinovia and soon became a father, shouldering the responsibility of providing for his family both in the United States and across the Atlantic. This drive led him to take his first step into the business world at 29, becoming a partner at Hunterdon Valley Diner. Since then, Fotis has thrived as an owner and partner of multiple diners and restaurants. His most recent establishment, Riverwinds Restaurant, is a magnificent fine dining venue and banquet facility boasting over 500 seats. Nestled along the Delaware River, it offers breathtaking views of the Philadelphia skyline and airport.

Today, the once 13-year-old Greek boy is not only a proud American citizen but also a loving husband, father of three, and grandfather of five. As the owner of two highly successful South Jersey restaurants, Fotis’s life is one many would envy. However, his accomplishments extend far beyond personal success. He remains devoted to supporting his family, employees, and local communities. Fotis has provided employment opportunities to others and has even assisted individuals in their journey to citizenship, mirroring the struggles he overcame in his own pursuit of the American dream. Despite his achievements, Fotis continues to work tirelessly, embodying the same work ethic he had when he first arrived in this country. His unwavering dedication shows no signs of slowing down.

Join us at the Hermes Expo as we celebrate Fotis Farmakis’s remarkable journey and honor his outstanding contributions to the restaurant industry and the community. The event promises to be a testament to the power of determination and hard work. For more information and tickets, please visit www.hermesexpo.com.  Reservations must be made by June 5th.
