The Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias met with the Mayor of Santorini, Antonis Sigalas. During the meeting was presented the strategic development plan for Santorini while proposed transition actions for achieving sustainable tourism development on an island that is a global destination.
Some of the proposed actions include the completion of spatial planning, digital switchover, infrastructure development and integration etc. Santorini also aims to alternative forms of tourism, to the protection of cultural heritage as well as the protection and development of the primary sector
As Mr. Kikilias noted: “It is important and necessary to study the limits of the island, in order to achieve a sustainable tourism development model, focusing on the comparative advantages of this place”
