STANLEY GERONDELIS
John G. Thevos Fifth District
Past District Governor
2014-2015
Stanley was born in Greece on the beautiful Island of Lesvos. At the age of 18 he immigrated to San Paolo, Brazil where he worked at a clothing factory.
In 1956 his father died so he was forced to return to Greece to take care of his mother and his two younger brothers. There he was drafted in the military service and served in the air force for two years. As soon as he completed his military service he left Greece to join his family in the United States.
In 1964 he married Niky Alexopoulos and last year they celebrated their 50th anniversary. They have been blessed with three beautiful daughters and they are all married to very wonderful husbands. They each gave Stanley and Niky two beautiful grandchildren and now they are blessed with 6 grandchildren.
In 1964 he was initiated in the AHEPA Washington Rock chapter #114 in Plainfield, NJ. He served as chapter President from 1970 until 1975. In 1980, the Washington Rock chapter became inactive and he transferred to Monroe chapter #75 in New Brunswick. He served as President of Monroe chapter for 4 years until he was asked to join the District Lodge.
When he joined the District Lodge, it was quite an experience. He traveled throughout District #5 with the company of very wonderful Lodge members, visiting all the chapters, meeting many brother Ahepans and making a lot of friends.
As District Governor his main goal was to show the brothers different ways to increase active membership and not just have members getting initiated and never to see them again.
Stanley is the first Life member in the District to serve as District Governor. Now he is a member of the AHEPA for 51 years.
