Tom McGarrigle has resided in Delaware County for more than 30 years. Tom started his own automotive repair business at the age of 21 in a small rented garage in Sharon Hill. Through hard work and a strong business sense, Tom was able to purchase his own, larger shop in Collingdale after just three years. Now located in Springfield Township, Tom’s business sponsors a range of community activities and events.
Tom has a long record of public service and a history of working to improve the quality of life for Delaware County residents. In 2003, he was elected Springfield Township Commissioner representing the 5th Ward. His leadership skills were recognized by his colleagues on the Board and he has served the past three years as Vice President.
As a member of the Board of Commissioners, Tom has served on the Public Safety, Finance, Parks and Library Committees and Chairman of the Springfield Country Club Committee. During his tenure on the Board, Tom has a record of fiscal discipline while maintaining a high standard of service for Springfield Township residents. He has never voted for a tax increase.
Tom is a dedicated member of the Springfield community and has donated his time to a number of community and youth organizations. He was actively involved in the Springfield Youth Club for ten years, and served six years as President of the organization. He is a member of the Springfield Lions Club and after moving his business to Springfield in 1998, became an active member of the Greater Springfield Business Association.
Tom is also a founding member of the Run for Heroes, which organizes an annual 5K Run in Springfield that raises $25,000 each year for the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund. Those funds provide needed support and educational assistance for the children of fallen police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel.
Tom will celebrate his 25th Wedding anniversary to his wife Michele this year. He has three sons, Thomas Jr., Patrick, and Daniel, and resides in Springfield Township.
