Greece’s Consul General in Istanbul Ambassador Constantine Koutras, discussed the case of 78-year-old Dimitris Papadimitriou who has been found and reunited with his family after being missing since September 5.
Koutras, speaking to journalists in the presence of Papadimitriou, his son and granddaughter from Kozani, conveyed the deep emotion felt by the family and the many people in Greece who had expressed concern and sent messages on social media.
Consul General explained that Papadimitriou was identified on Friday by a taxi driver, who took him to a café where the Greek consulate in Istanbul was notified.
Koutras commended the Turkish police for their “ not just flawless, but more than flawless” cooperation. He added that Papadimitriou, who had become disoriented will return to Greece in the coming days by air, accompanied by his son and granddaughter.
