Greece showed no primary deficit in 2002, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said earlier on Tuesday speaking at a conference of the Finance Ministry entitled: “Greek Economy: Resilience – Progress – Perspective”. It should be noted that the forecast was for a primary deficit of 1.5% of GDP.
The minister underlined the fact that the government has managed to keep the society standing and the economy alive during its four-year term, despite the great difficulties it faced, such as the pandemic, the energy crisis, and others, and this was achieved with measures totaling 57 billion euros.
