Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas attended the unveiling of a statue in honor of the late, former politician and journalist, Pavlos Bakoyannis, in Thermo, Greece.
Bakoyannis, who was the husband of former Mayor of Athens and former Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, was assassinated by the terrorist organization, 17 November, in 1989. He is father of Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis and Alexia Bakoyannis.
Mayor Bakoyannis served as the keynote speaker and spoke about his father’s love of Greece and his unwavering commitment to its people.
More than 500 people attended, including U.S. Ambassador to Greece George Tsunis, who also delivered remarks.

Pavlos Bakoyannis attended school in Thermo and lived in the surrounding villages during his early youth. The dedication took place in the courtyard of Gymnasio in Thermo Etoloakarnania, where Pavlos once studied.
Supreme President Kokotas conveyed his appreciation to Thermo Mayor Spyros Konstandaras for his invitation to the event.
