The national broadcasters of Greece and Kosovo, Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) and KosovaPress, signed a collaboration agreement at Pristina on Friday.
The agreement is part of bilateral synergies ANA-MPA seeks with the member news agencies of both the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) and the Association of the Balkan News Agencies – Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE), and signing the agreement were ANA-MPA’s President and Director General Aimilios Perdikaris and KosovaPress Director General Suzana Hashani-Rakovica.
The signing was attended by the Head of the Liaison Office of the Hellenic Republic in Kosovo, Ambassador Heleni Vakali, and KosovoPress founder and CEO Skender Krasniqi.
Apart from being a founding member of ABNA-SE, Greece’s news agency currently also holds ABNA-SE’s presidency, while it is also an active member of EANA. KosovaPress is EANA’s most recent member, and of ABNA-SE a member since 2017.
The collaboration opens a channel of real-time communication, noted Perdikaris, that goes beyond the exchange of news, towards the implementation of joint projects. He also referred to his proposal which he has submitted to ABNA-SE members for the creation of a Balkan newsroom that will contribute greatly to a more efficient dissemination of news from regional countries.
Suzana Hashani-Rakovica expressed her full support towards creating a Balkan newsroom, and she underlined the significance of news agencies informing public opinion with accurate news, especially with an agreement like the one between Kosovo and Greece. She also highlighted politics, economy and sports as key news areas.
