Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF), a member company of Growthfund -The National Fund of Greece – on Thursday announced Aplekton Holdings Co Limited as the highest bidder in a tender for the long-term lease of part of the former Olympic Equestrian Center of Markopoulo, Attica, where the equestrian events were held during the 2004 Olympic Games.

The company’s offer includes a one-off payment of 6.5 million euros and an annual lease of 180,000 euros, which will be adjusted on an annual basis according to the consumer price index.

The property to be developed has an area of 589.5 acres and includes indoor and outdoor sports facilities. It is located within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Markopoulo, in Merenda, at 43 km from the center of Athens and 13 km from the Athens International Airport.

According to the Special Plan for the Spatial Development of Public Property, an area within the former Olympic Equestrian Center is defined with the mandatory use of sports riding, while in the rest of the property sports and mild commercial and tourist uses are allowed with a complementary character to the operation of sports facilities.
