The Greek Department of Athenian Academy organized a teleconference regarding the October 28th celebration. The Defense Attaché of Greece to US Colonel Panagiotis Vlachopoulos delivered the keynote speech and presented about the OXI DAY. COL Vlachopoulos described the Greek nation’s titanic efforts against the Axis powers and emphasized that fighting for freedom comes with a price. The Consul General of Greece in Tampa, Mr. Loukas Tsokos along with the president of the Federation of the Greek American educators, Mrs. Stella Kokolis also participated and made remarks about the historical significance of the Greek National Holiday. Students sang the National Anthem of Greece, recited poems and learned about the importance of paying respect to our fallen heroes.
