A delegation of Egypt’s Health Ministry, led by Minister Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, visited on Wednesday, September 13, the facilities of the Athens Medical Group and held a series of strategic discussions with its management.
After the talks, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU). According to the announcement, the signing of the memorandum marks the beginning of a new partnership between private and public bodies (PPP) and a transitional step forward in the countries’ cooperation in the health sector.
This strategic cooperation stems from the shared vision of the two sides for the continuous development and improvement of the health system, daily improving medical services and the quality of life of their people.
The cooperation concerns in particular the transfer by the Athens Medical Group of its specialized know-how in the provision of medical services as well as its leading medical technologies to the already existing infrastructures of Egypt in the health sector.
This will result in the provision of high-quality health services, ranging from diagnostic tests and treatments to the management of health care facilities and health research.
The Memorandum of Cooperation highlights the strategic areas of cooperation between the two parties, emphasizing the development of reference centers (centers of excellence) in health, the exchange of know-how as well as the common pursuit in the field of research and innovation in health.
This new partnership establishes a framework for a sustainable partnership, allowing both parties to work closely together under the same framework.
This collaboration will bring enormous benefits to the health care sector, improving access to specialized medical services, as well as the resilience of the existing health system in Egypt.
By combining the high-level capabilities of Athens Medical Group with the ministry’s commitment to improving public health, the aim is to create a healthcare ecosystem that is responsive, adaptive and focused on the well-being of every Egyptian citizen.
After the signing of the MoU, Health Minister of Egypt, Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, stated:
“As we embark on this journey, we are committed to achieving a sustained improvement in healthcare delivery in Egypt, ultimately improving the health and quality of life for all our citizens. Together, we look forward to a future where excellence in healthcare knows no borders.”
On his part, the CEO of the Athens Medical Group, Dr. Vassilis Apostolopoulos, said:
“As the leading Greek health group, we are ready to invest and proceed with the transfer of know-how in order to contribute to the promotion of the health of our friends, the people of Egypt.
Through the sensitive health sector, we also wish to contribute to the geostrategic cooperation and friendship of the two countries, which today is stronger than ever.”
