Dear Paul,
The Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation (HCRF) launched in November 2015 and already there is much enthusiasm and support for our mission. There is a palpable sense of excitement and momentum behind the prospect of supporting such a world-class institution.
At HCRF, we are seeking philanthropic support to provide funding for translational research in order to create opportunities for major breakthroughs in cancer research, and to ultimately discover better treatments and an eventual cure for all types of cancer. Specifically, we are endeavoring to raise funds for high-impact translational research studies at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. The Lurie Cancer Center is one of only 47 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation and a highly respected leader in cancer treatment, research, training, and community service.
Dr. Platanias’ vision for the Lurie Cancer Center is unique in that it spans from basic science research to clinical care. The Lurie Cancer Center brings together the strengths of Northwestern University – such as nanotechnology, physical sciences, chemistry and engineering with the strengths of Northwestern Medicine as Chicago’s premier academic health system. It ensures that researchers are collaborating with clinicians as part of a continuous loop focused on solving medical issues faced by cancer patients and their caregivers each day. No other program has the systematic approach that Dr. Platanias has established with the translational bridge program to address the complex challenges of advancing the treatment of cancer. Dr. Platanias and his team are committed to working vigorously to save lives and put an end to people’s suffering by finding the cure to all cancers.
The Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation is the first foundation to challenge cancer by supporting breakthrough research to advance human life. HCRF was created through the collaborative efforts of compassionate individuals who strive to protect the honor of “Hippocrates”, the founding father of medicine, and his passion and willingness to advance medicine for the benefit of all humanity.
“Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love for humanity.” – Hippocrates
We welcome your commitment to support our efforts. One hundred percent of all donations will be used to support innovative, groundbreaking cancer research that will lead to new treatments for ALL TYPES OF CANCER. As founding members of the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation, we are committed in funding the efforts of Dr. Platanias and his team to find the cure for this deadly disease that has taken the lives of so many loved ones. We must defeat cancer by showing power and unity to overcome this plague.
With humility and gratitude, I thank you.
“Cancer can be defeated if doctors, researchers, and philanthropists work as a team.”
Kindest regards,
Eleni Bousis
