Dear Editor:

MY THOUGHT OF THE DAY

The talks to partition the island are in full speed and everyone seems so happy including politicians and their political parties. ‘So far so good’, they say, and they are on the hype with promises of prosperity, stability and job creation once we agree to a Bi-Zonal, Bi-Communal Federation (BBF) – that’s exactly what they promised before Cyprus misguidedly joined the EU banker’s institution. Today, we all know the results of that spin! Cyprus is under an EU Economic colonization!

They also tell us that we would soon get rid of IMF EU-Troika. Those statements are designed for propaganda and to brainwash citizens to vote in favor of a referendum (probably next year they predict) on the Cyprus issue. The present government has been a great spinner of the truth and it’s preparing the ground well ahead of time; to legitimize the illegitimate through a referendum. Millions would be invested and spent to convince the public!

But, they also fail to tell us that EU economic colonization would still be in place under the current Mnimonio Agreement (probably for the next 30 years) that is, if we don’t ask for more Troika loans – the likely scenario of that, it’s more likely than unlikely!

Thanks for reading Hellenic News of America

They also ignore to tell us that Turkey would have a crucial role to play in the affairs of our country after a solution is reached. Contrary to the spin, Turkey’s sultan Mr. Erdogan made it clear that Ankara would never abandon its guarantor status and military trophy. What does that say?

They also forget to tell us that there is a growing danger with Islamic State “sleepers cells” in the Turkish military occupied area of Cyprus and opening more crossings would make security even worse. The recent apprehension of a Lebanese Muslim extremist with TWO TONS of explosives material in a Larnaca residence it’s the start. Yet the government and others celebrate the opening of more crossings before a solution is reached, instead of being the other way around.

Lets wait and see what happens next but the signs are confusing and certainly muddy.
