The number of direct flights between the two countries has increased significantly in recent years. With so many flights offered from airports across the United States, travel between the two countries have been increasingly convenient. Many airlines offer flights from the United States to Greece, with the most popular being flights from John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York. The number of flights from various airports has increased considerably, including those from the major cities of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York, and Newark, with the most recent addition being Charlotte, North Carolina, starting in 2025. During the peak holiday season, there are eighty-two weekly direct flights available.
Data from the Bank of Greece for the first quarter of 2024 show that 162,000 tourists from the United States chose to vacation in Greece, an 87.8% increase from 2023. On average, U.S. visitors tend to spend more time in Greece than their European counterparts by an impressive 43.4%. Furthermore, the United States ranks exceptionally high in income generated by tourists from non-European Union countries, second only to the United Kingdom. This sustained growth in Greece-U.S. tourism reflects also the excellent relations between the two countries.
