Dr. George Dangas to be Honored with the Hippocratic Award at the 32nd Hermes Expo

The Hermes Expo proudly announces that Dr. George Dangas, Director of Cardiovascular Innovation at the Cardiovascular Institute of the Mount Sinai Hospital, will be honored with the esteemed Hippocratic Award at the 32nd Hermes Expo. The award ceremony will take place on June 14th at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey.

The Hippocratic Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the highest standards of medical excellence, dedication, and contributions to the field of healthcare. Dr. Dangas’ exceptional expertise, innovative approaches, and commitment to advancing cardiovascular treatments make him a deserving recipient of this prestigious accolade.

As a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Surgery (Vascular) with tenure at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Dr. Dangas has made significant contributions to cardiovascular medicine and patient care. He serves as the Director of Cardiovascular Innovation at the Cardiovascular Institute of the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, as well as the Director of the Medical School Course Cardiology, Associate Director of the Mount Sinai Heart Department, and Chief of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Queens. Dr. Dangas is also a Founding Physician of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in New York City.

Internationally recognized as an expert in coronary, heart valve, and vascular diseases, Dr. Dangas specializes in minimally invasive, interventional treatments using cutting-edge technologies and novel medical therapies. His dedication to research is evident through his extensive publication record, which includes over 750 publications and an internationally acclaimed textbook on Interventional Cardiology Principles & Practice.

Dr. Dangas completed his education at Athens College, the Medical School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the Hellenic Navy School of Hyperbaric Medicine. He pursued further training in Internal Medicine at the Miriam Hospital/Brown University in Rhode Island and completed his residency in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, he held positions as an Associate Professor at Columbia University Medical Center and Chairman of Cardiology at the Onassis Heart Center in Athens.

Beyond his clinical and academic accomplishments, Dr. Dangas actively contributes to professional societies and organizations. He has received fellowship distinction in seven international professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI). Dr. Dangas has also served as a Trustee of the ACC and the SCAI and held the position of founding Chair of the ACC Interventional Cardiology Council. His teaching excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including the ACC Distinguished Teacher and SCAI Master designations.
