In the era of the digital world, the issue of cyber security and of the digital state along with the cyber threats is of major and vital importance. The e-governance Ministry focuses on the strengthening of the digital state’s resilience, the safe provision of modern services, the protection of the individual rights and the cultivation of a climate of trust. “When we speak of cyber security, the numbers make us dizzy” stated to Athens-Macedonian News Agency e-Governance minister Dimitris Papastergiou.
The danger is huge and the law on the National Cyber Security Authority came to address these increased national needs by upgrading the surveillance level, information and support of the involved agencies in the sector of cyber security and enhancing the ecosystem of digital innovation in the country via the creation of an environment with secure infrastructure.
“In only one week we had 13.3 million attacks DDoS against government sites and at least 500,000 more serious attacks. We want an environment with secure infrastructure. The National Cyber Security Authority guarantees that the framework exists and will be continuously strengthened. The cybercrime is evolving as well as the defence against cyber-attacks”, Papastergiou said.
