Education Minister Niki Kerameus is visiting New York from September 16 to September 19, to participate in the Transforming Education Summit convened by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
The topics discussed included, among others, teaching and learning about: digital literacy of citizens, artificial intelligence in the light of human rights, access to open data and digital educational materials. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Education, Professor Jeffrey Sachs also participated in the panel and praised the reforms and innovations of the last three years in the Greek education system.
Kerameus addressed the closing session of the plenary, while she held a bilateral meeting with Leonardo Garnier, special advisor to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for the Summit on the Transformation of Education. She also spoke with the Italian Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi, the head of the OECD Education and Skills Directorate and the initiator of the international PISA student performance assessment program Andrea Schleicher and the Hon. UNESCO Director-General for Education Stefania Giannini. The minister also visited American start-up companies specializing in digital educational tools.
