The Labor and Social Insurance Ministry plans to table a bill raising the fine for empoyers who underreport the work hours of their staff, Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Wednesday.

In the company of Deputy Minister Vassilis Spanakis and Independent Labor Inspectorate Governor Giorgos Tzilivakis, Georgiadis said that fine for underreported work hours – related to providing social insurance payments – would be raised to 10,500 euros per case, the same as for undeclared workers.

The three officials were present while members of the Inspectorate, and independent authority, were examining the books of a restaurant in the center of Athens, testing the new digital services that cross-check company and staff data across government platforms.
