“Greece is not going to accept any dispute of its territorial integrity,” Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said on Thursday in an interview with the newsbomb website.

He noted that he would not like “internal political agendas to be transferred to Greek-Turkish relations,” amidst the climate of political tension in Turkiye.

Referring to Greek-Turkish issues, he pointed out that Turkiye is afraid that Greece is planning to block it from the sea, something that is far from the thoughts of anyone in the country’s political system.

“It must be understood and believed by the Turkish side that Greece does not want to exclude Turkiye from the sea”, he stressed and added: “Let’s find ways in which this initial acceptance can be achieved.”

A condition, as he pointed out, is for Turkiye to accept the framework of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). “If it does not accept the framework, the discussion cannot continue. If it accepts the framework, we can find solutions for any reasonable demand by Turkiye,” he underlined.

“I am convinced that with a reasonable Turkiye, which is really looking for solutions with Greece and not with a Turkiye that seeks sovereignty over half of the Aegean, a solution can be found,” he added.

Referring to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he said that each has treated the other with respect and decency, even in periods of great tension.
