Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis will meet with his EU counterparts in the presence of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on Monday. Gerapetritis is in New York for the 78th UN General Assembly.
He will next participate in a high-level meeting on the Middle East peace process entitled “The Peace Day Effort – A new Effort for the Middle East” with the participation of officials from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the EU and Arab League.
Gerapetritis will also attend an event organised by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to mark the 50th anniversary since Germany joined the United Nations, as well as a meeting held by the Greek community in the US.
In the context of efforts to promote Greece’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2025-2026, the foreign minister will have bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Uzbekistan and Ecuador.
