The European Travel Commission (ETC) annual “Market Intelligence Group (MIG) and Marketing Group” conference is to take place in Athens for the first time on February 7-9, 2024, following an initiative of the Greek National Tourist Organisation (GNTO).
The conference will focus on planning and evaluating annual actions, as well as an exchange of views and good practices among the members of the ETC regarding research and the promotion of destinations and of Europe as a whole.
Two sessions will be held during the two days. The morning session is a closed meeting for Marketing Intelligence Group and Marketing Group members only, while the afternoon session includes ETC presentations and conclusions and is open to the public.
Since its foundation in 1948, the ETC has been a non-profit organisation with national tourism organisations as its members. Its actions aim to increase tourist flows from other countries to Europe through marketing actions and the exchange of ideas and experiences for the benefit of each member.
GNTO is one of the 19 founding members of the ETC, a particularly important fact for Greece and the promotion of the Greek tourism product abroad.
GNTO General Secretary Dimitris Fragakis stated that “Greece plays a leading role in the European tourism industry, both because of our performance in tourism figures and because we can take the lead in shaping developments in the sector. The GNTO has an excellent long-term cooperation with the ETC and has supported the holding of this great event from the very beginning. It is our pleasure to welcome our counterparts from all over Europe and an excellent opportunity to present the opportunities for travel experiences in our country during the winter months, as well as to present Athens as a city break destination.”
