“Greece can play a key role in the shipbuilding industry at international level,” underlined Deputy Development Minister Anna Mani at the 1st Conference of the Greek Shipyards Union representing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
She also said that the resolution plans and revival of the shipyards industry “are developing rapidly.” In parallel, Mani underlined that the revival of the Greek shipyards turns Greece into a significant shipping hub for the Southeastern Mediterranean, redefining its productive dynamic in strategic sectors as defence, energy and shipping.
“With the largest fleet worldwide, Greece should have strong and competitive shipyards and that’s why the enhancement and upgrading of the Greek shipyards is of vital importance,” the minister said.
Mani pointed out that “for the first time after many years, the news around the shipbuilding industry of Greece focus on new investment plans and vessels built in Greece,” she said adding that “this development contributes to Greece’s economic prosperity by creating new job positions”.
