“Greece is strengthening its international position with strong alliances and new agreements,” Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said in an article published in the World Review of Euro2day.gr and the New York Times.

As he said, with confidence in “the Greece of creation and development, the Greece of expanded alliances and collaborations, we will continue in order to face the challenges of the 21st century.”

Dendias underlined that the international environment is changing rapidly and the balances are changing.

“Greece’s policy is adapting to the new data with a constant focus on respect for International Law. Our country acquires a say and a role in regional developments, facing the risks and taking advantage of the opportunities that are presented”, the minister said.

Dendias noted that in the last two years the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis has achieved tangible results. In particular, he recalled the signing of the EEZ delimitation agreements with Italy and Egypt and the political agreement to resolve the same issue at the International Court of Justice in The Hague with Albania.

“We reaffirm the primacy of international law in our relations with neighbouring countries and demonstrated that it is the only basis for resolving outstanding disputes,” he said.

“We are protecting the country through bilateral defence agreements, both with traditional allies such as France and the United States and with new partners such as the United Arab Emirates. We have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the United Kingdom, which also has a defence dimension,” Dendias added.
