The Greek Ambassador to Cairo, Nikos Garilidis, met with the President of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, at the organisation’s headquarters in the city of Ismailia, in order to discuss ways of cooperation.
According to a statement from the Suez Canal Authority, the head of the organisation, Osama Rabie, welcomed the Greek Ambassador and expressed his satisfaction with the historical relations that unite Egypt and Greece, both at the top political level and between the peoples, praising the unprecedented approach to relations between the two countries in all areas, under the guidance and interest of the political leadership of the two countries.
Rabie also expressed Egypt’s gratitude for the role of the Greeks in the completion of the Canal project in the 1950s.
Garilidis pointed out that the Suez Canal has always been of particular importance to the Greek people and expressed his country’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with the organisation.
