Sayreville, New Jersey – On Wednesday, April 26th, the members of the community came together at Epic Church to pay tribute to the brave public safety professionals who tragically lost their lives during the pandemic. The event, aptly titled “A Proper Tribute,” served as a day of remembrance and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these selfless individuals.

The significance of the occasion was highlighted by the presence of His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia, accompanied by Colonel Pat Callahan of the NJ State Police and NJ Attorney General Matt Platkin. Their presence underscored the importance of honoring these fallen public safety heroes and demonstrated the unwavering support and solidarity of the community. 

“To see His Grace seated with Colonel Callahan and Attorney General Platkin was a proud moment for our Greek Community to honor the fallen Public Safety Heroes of all faiths and beliefs,” shared H. James Polos, Executive Director Middlesex County Improvement Authority.

The event aimed to appreciate and remember all frontline workers who courageously battled the pandemic, with a particular focus on the 45 individuals in New Jersey who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the safety of their communities. Their dedication and bravery exemplify the true spirit of public service and serve as an inspiration to all. Their presence helped create an atmosphere of gratitude and remembrance, emphasizing the importance of safe communities as a vital component of societal progress.
